Condition assessment comment: 3 main habitat areas. Southern section is open woodland, with dense birch and some oak/rowan. Bramble is frequent but bracken only occasional except in the few clearings where it becomes dominant. A band of dry heath then stretches E-W, with dominant Molinia, birch scrub 2-3m high and occasional bilberry amongst the heather. Female adder seen here. Smaller northern area sits lower with some peat cuttings producing hollows with Cotton grass and Sphagnum hummocks. Cranberry, bog rosemary, sundew all present at low frequency. Boundary belt of dense scrub impacts NNR units 54, 55, 58, 59. No sign of any management.
Number of adverse condition reasons: 3
