Unit 156
This was a site visit and meeting with landowner for the fishing business that operates on Unit 158 - waterbody
The margins of the flooded gravel pit (past aggregate extraction activities) are managed as scrubland and provide cover for birds during winter and passage and nesting season.
The vehicle trackway serving the NW edge of the pit in Unit 158 was discussed and scrub management works at the far extreme of the track that had become overgrown with willow and bramble was agreed. This will help maintain this edge habitat in good condition.
The areas of the extensive unit 156 seen from this site visit looked in good condition and the grazing regime appears to be well managed. This lies in the ownership of another landowner.
File note and consent paperwork was prepared.
