Comment: Water levels are high within the units of the ditches and so fields were waterlogged which should be attractive to wintering bird species. Dense blankets of Lemna are found over 60-70% of the ditches with otherwise common emergents Phragmits and Juncus being the dominant species. Approx 30-40% of the ditches were of late succession slightly above target.
