This is sheep-grazed pasture with naturally undulating topography primarily of importance for its ditch system. The ditches are varied in terms of structure and composition; some are shallow and ephemeral, others are broad and deep, and managed by the Internal Drainage Board. Some of the ditches are dominated by common reed but as they are generally open to grazing stock they often have short-grazed margins supporting a high diversity of plants.
There is evidence of past damage to areas adjacent to the railway. This area is currently under restoration. |
