Comment: The invasive species crassula helmsii continues to spread within the ditches of the unit. Now found in over 50% of the ditches and severe infeststations in some ditches. However ,the Remaining unnaffected ditches are in very good condition and some indicator species remain in affected ditches. No loss noted in extend of features. Water levels were below target in just over half of the ditches surveyed though main ditches maintained levels above the minimum and survey was at critical time of year. Extent of algal dominance is below the critical level. The majority of ditches were in the early to mid succussional stage and largley free from heavy shading. Many of the ditches have a trapezoidal profile but there is enough variety within the unit and surrounding area. Indicators of local distinctiveness Tubular water dropwort, Frogbit, Lemna trisulca, large population of Marsh mallow-Althaea officinalis (with v large populations bordering the arable fields), Soft hornwort and water milfoil
