Comment: This is a stabilised dune system with a range of grassland types supporting a number of notable plants. Management, as well as soil depth, creates variation in the composition and structure of the grassland. Some areas are sheep grazed, other parts are species-rich unmanaged `rough? making up about 30% of site. Where soils are richer there is a dense sward characterised by frequent sea couch, false oat-grass and cock?s-foot, with frequent wild carrot, restharrow and wild parsnip, and smaller amounts of lady?s bedstraw, meadow vetchling and autumn hawkbit. Areas with lighter soils and less grass growth tend to have a short, tight turf dominated by red fescue, common bent etc and frequent sheep's sorrel and occasional buck?s-horn plantain and mouse-ear hawkweed. There are also areas of exposed shingle dominated by lichens and bryophytes.
