Comment: The unit consists of two separate fields. The western field is predominantly species-poor, agriculturally improved grassland. A prominent shingle ridge cuts across the centre of the field. This does not support shingle vegetation of special interest but the surface geomorphology is intact. The buried geomorphology also appears to be intact as there is no evidence of disturbance of the deposits. Access to the deposits for study and research is possible over the whole area should it be required. The eastern field also has a large area of improved, species-poor grassland and a prominent shingle ridge. The ridge is largely intact although part close to the road has been excavated in the past creating a series of wet hollows. Much of the ridge has bare shingle but parts support shingle vegetation of interest, although this is localised and patchy. The ridge vegetation consists of patches of gorse, prostrate blackthorn and small amounts of characteristic plants such as wood sage, sea campion and English stonecrop. The amount of scrub present is considered to be at an acceptable level and encroachment appears to be being kept in check by grazing.
