Comment: This is an area of largely unvegetated shingle with intact natural shingle ridge topography over most of the unit. However, there is a large central area where the shingle has been disturbed to shelter the old coast guard cottages. The characteristic range of vegetation types is present. In areas where vegetation is colonising it tends to be dominated by red fescue with sea campion, stork?s-bill, and occasional ragwort. There are also areas with short, species-rich mats with bryophytes, lichens, thrift and sheep's sorrel. Scrub cover is less than 5% across the unit, mostly consisting of gorse and bramble. No negative indicators were noted.
Number of adverse condition reasons: 0
