Comment: This area is within the power station compound. Part of the natural shingle ridge topography remains relatively undisturbed and supports good quality shingle vegetation. The area is grazed by rabbits which helps to maintain the vegetation as a short, open community. The typical shingle plant community present includes sea kale, thrift, yellow horned poppy, sea campion, vipers bugloss and saltmarsh goosefoot scattered amongst the largely unvegetated shingle with encrusting lichens. In areas that have become more permanently vegetated wood sage and lichens dominate. The non-native red valerian is present but it is controlled and is scarce.
