Comment: The fossil geomorphology appears to be largely intact although there some disturbance in the lower lying parts. The cut and bale regime carried out by the MOD to the northern parts is helping improve this area for legumes and should provide results if maintained by providing pollen/nectar sources. Ditches are phragmites dominated with some sea club rush present in places. The southern part of the unit shows more evidence of typical shingle communities with lichen mats present where soils are thinner. Plenty of wild carrot/parsnip and sedges present in patches. The dry gassy areas have a very long sward height, shorter only in areas subject to occassional burns and paths. Reedbeds are found in southern part of the unit though many dry at this time of year. Some areas have become scrubbed over but overall area of scrub scrub is in isolated patches and may benefit invertebrates.
