Comment: Area of steep woodland with significant damage still visible from the 1987 storm, the area of Dukes Plantation has been planted up with Yew but Sycamore, Ash and Buddleia have colonised. The local Wildlife trust is now managing these areas although some has been left unmanaged. The majority of the unit is non intervention. Mature areas include yew, Ash, Oak and Beech as well as some large Sycamore and Scots pine. Birch, Hawthorn and Holly are colonising areas of wind damage as well as Sycamore and Buddleia. Ground flora sparse, includes Bramble and Male fern below mature canopy, no rides as such but with all the open areas caused by the original wind damage there is plenty of transition habitat and good structure.
