Comment: Cattle and rabbit grazed unit containing U1 acidic grassland, M23 mire and small shallow pools. Acidic grassland contains abundant Rumex acetosella and Vulpia bromoides, with occasional Centaurium erythraea, Ornithopus perpusillus, Erodium cicutarium, Aphanes australis and Trifolium dubium. M23 mire is closely grazed in between rushes and has frequent Lotus pedunculatus, Carex ovalis, Potentilla erecta and Carex hirta, occasional Lythrum portula and Carex demissa, and rare Hypericum humifusum and Trifolium subterraneum. Hydrocotyle is frequent in the SW. The small pools near the NW side of the unit had no open water at time of survey, but held frequent Hypericum elodes, Hydrocotyle, Potamogeton polygonifolius and Eleogiton fluitans, and occasional Eleocharis palustris, Galium palustre and Ranunculus flammula. Rhododendrons near the pools should be removed. The area separated by a track within the SW corner of the unit requires management to control abundant gorse and young birch, but due to the small size of this area this does not change the overall unit assessment.
