Comment:

On the whole the features on this unit are in good condition and the fen has recovered well from the large scale clearance in the early 2000s. Whilst not as species rich as some of the nearby fen blocks, the fen is diverse and contains many of the characteristic species of the Ant valley fens. More active management by the RSPB is likely to further improve the condition over time. A small area of Crassula exists at the northern end of the unit, but it is within the bounds of the fen attributes for non-native species. It is identified as a threat, but being actively controlled by the RSPB with the intention of eliminating it from the unit.
