Condition assessment comment:

Shore and boat survey showed frequent Lemna trisulca, Potamogeton pusillus, Potamogeton crispus with Ceratophyllum demersum locally abundant across the water body especially at the southern end of the mere where it was especially luxurious and dominant. Blue-green algae were present in low numbers and water clarity was good with visibility to the lake bed across most of the mere. The area of fringing Typha latifolia and Phragmites communis with other species such as Sparganium erectum has increased where the PA Angling Club had geese exclusion areas and have reduced tree cover on the north and east sides of the mere. Large number of fish fry were observed in the shallows probably roach. 28 Mute Swans and 12 Coots were present grazing the aquatic vegetation and one cormorant observed flying over.
