Comment: Large area of almost vertical mature woodland, steeper parts dominated by Yew and Box. Diverse canopy in general with Ash, White beam, Beech, Large-leaved lime (including an exceptionally large multi-stemmed individual on the river bank), Oak, Field maple and Sallow. Ground flora equally varied with Bramble, Dogs mercury, Dog violets, Sanicle, Ivy, Harts Tongue Fern, Male fern and Martagon Lilly. No rides as such but is plenty of fallen and standing deadwood and resulting gaps in canopy. Can only be non-intervention due to the steepness of the slope, consequently only part of the unit visited. The grassland within this unit are the high amenity areas adjacent to the visitor centre and managed by cutting, it should be considered as site infrastructure.
