Comment:

This unit passes on almost all aspects except that there is too much eroded bare ground to be in favourable condition and not enough of the heather provides the deep cover needed by Sand Lizards. This may partly be due to fires of which there is evidence. Active management, under HLS, of scrub and pine re-growth is ensuring that the site is heading towards favourable condition. Rhynchospora communities are present but other uncommon species were not noted at the time of survey but may still well be present. The wetter areas seem to be in rather better condition than the dry heath with high cover of Sphagnum mosses. (Same as for previous assessment in order to enter correct status on the new recording system).
