Reason for adverse condition: AGRICULTURE - UNDERGRAZING,FRESHWATER - DRAINAGE,FRESHWATER - SILTATION,FRESHWATER POLLUTION - WATER POLLUTION - DISCHARGE,LACK OF CORRECTIVE WORKS - INAPPROPRIATE WEED CONTROL,PLANNING PERMISSION - PLANNING PERMISSION - OTHER MINERAL AND WASTE,PUBLIC ACCESS/DISTURBANCE - PUBLIC ACCESS/DISTURBANCE,
Comment: The majority of the dry heath slope in this unit was burnt this year and has a problem with bracken invasion. The gorse on the site is leggy and needs coppicing. The unit fails on bare ground extent. The wet heath in the unit is suffering from ongoing silt washout from the adjoining land fill operation. There are a wide variety of ruderal plants growing in what should be a mire. The other areas of wet heath and mire show a good assemblage of characteristic species however they areheavily dominated by molinia and would benefit from grazing pressure. Urban effects noted some of which could be controlled include arson, nutrient enrichment, erosion on steep slopes due to walkers, horse riders and mountain bikes.
Number of adverse condition reasons: 8
