Comment: This unit is a band of varying width of saltmarsh - very narrow inthe south but wider adn with more developed zonation in the north. The saltmarsh is grazed by cattle but livestock do not venture far from the sea wall over much of the unit's length - this may need to be reviewed and access points or stow ways installed if it is decided that the habitat for birds would benefit from a greater area being grazed. The vegetation is characterised by low-mid marsh and pioneer species including samphire, sea purselane, sea meadow grass and sea aster. The saltmarsh meets the targets for the number of characteristic species and there are no signs of man-made interference that would affect its development.
