The main car park is accessed via a driveway off Alderton Close, just off the A607 Melton Road. 

The site can be reached from the riverside path and National Cycle Route 6, and from Birstall Lock (White Horse Lane, Birstall). There are also access points from Oakland Avenue.

Regular buses 5 and 6 from the city centre.

What to see: Watermead Country Park (South) has a strong sense of place with its wetland character, unusual in Leicester's urban environment.  As may be expected, the water features are the most prominent aspect of the park and is one of the most important wildlife sites in the city.
