By car - from Hinckley follow signs for Leicester to the B4668 (A47) Leicester Road, pass Hinckley Golf Club on the right. At the bottom of the hill turn right into what appears to be a layby and take Burbage Common Road and the main car park is 50m on the right.

From A5 - leave A5 at the Dodwell's Roundabout (Hinckley Junction) on the A47 towards Leicester (first exit if travelling south, second exit if heading north). Carry straight on over three roundabouts and a set of traffic lights. At the next roundabout, football stadium on right, take third exit to Hinckley on B4668. Pass football and rugby grounds on right, enter layby and take Burbage Common Road and car park is 50m on right.

From Leicester follow A47 through Earl Shilton. At first large roundabout take first exit to Hinckley on B4668. Pass football and rugby grounds on right, enter layby and take Burbage Common Road and car park is 50m on right.

By train - nearest station is Hinckley town centre. It is about 2 miles to walk to the site by leaving the station on the Burbage side (trains to Nuneaton and Birmingham), turn left onto footpath alongside railway line. At allotments turn right and then left along Brookside for about 100m. At traffic lights cross the main road and turn left to Hinckley. Turn right onto footpath before the railway bridge and continue until you reach the site. Alternatively leave the station on Hinckley side (trains to Leicester) walk up station approach, cross the road and continue up Station Road. Opposite the large car park turn left next to the Post Office, the bus station is on the left.

By bus - number 81 leaves the bus station at regular intervals. Telephone 0870 608 2608 for information.

What to see: The site is fairly evenly split between grassland and woodland with significant scrubland habitat. Most of the grassland is registered common and is unimproved acid grassland with some areas of heath. The woodlands are largely semi-natural ancient woodland of oak, ash and maple with a good ground flora.

A large colony of adderstongue fern thrives on part of the grassland. Woodland flora includes pendulous sedge, water avens, moschatelle, wood anenomes, bluebells and wood sorrel. Over 250 species of fungi , 300 flowering plants, 15 damselflies and dragonflies, 20 butterflies and 100 birds have been recorded on the site.
